The Gynecology Department of Affiliated Hospital of North Sichuan Medical College is a key discipline of North Sichuan Medical College, a key discipline construction project of Sichuan Provincial Medical Class A, an international minimally and non-invasive medical technology training center, and High intensity focus ultrasound training base (cervical and vulvar diseases). Has undertaken multiple high-level scientific research projects such as the Ministry of Health and Sichuan Province, and has won national, ministerial, and provincial-level scientific and technological achievement awards multiple times. The standardized diagnosis and treatment of gynecological diseases such as gynecological tumors, gynecological endocrine disorders, infertility, and vulvovaginal cervical lesions are leading in the province. We have developed a series of new technologies such as single port laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, and da Vinci robotic surgery, especially the high-intensity focused ultrasound is at the international leading level, and minimally invasive technologies such as gynecological laparoscopy have reached the domestic advanced level.The annual outpatient volume exceeds 130000 people, and the hospitalization volume exceeds 5600 people. Among them, minimally invasive surgery accounts for 90%. The annual surgery volume is over 7000 people(including outpatient hysteroscopic surgery).
2、 Talent team
There are currently more than 28 gynecologists, including 8 with senior professional titles, 4 with doctoral degrees, and 5 with master's degree supervisors，and there are 5 medical team leaders. The gynecological ward is divided into four medical teams, each led by a professor or associate professor with rich clinical experience. There are provincial academic and technical leaders, reserve candidates for provincial academic and technical leaders, and one candidate for provincial health department academic and technical leaders and reserve candidates.
3、 Specialized Medical Technology
1) Gynecological tumors
We undertake the diagnosis and treatment of difficult gynecological tumor in the Northeast Sichuan, have established the Northeast Sichuan Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital Association, and can carry out comprehensive treatment and management of gynecological tumors such as surgery, chemotherapy, and maintenance therapy. A multidisciplinary team (MDT) is founded in the basis of the collaboration with gastroenterology, hepatobiliary surgery, urology, imaging, pathology, and oncology, aiming at more effective and convenient diagnosis and treatment of difficult and critical patients.
2) Minimally and non-invasive surgery
① Hysteroscopy and laparoscopic surgery
We carry out single port laparoscopic surgery, laparoscopic extensive hysterectomy, pelvic and abdominal lymph node dissection, cytoreductive surgery for ovarian cancer, staging surgery for endometrial cancer, hysterectomy, myomectomy, laparoscopic uterosacral suspension, treatment of tubal pregnancy, examination and treatment of infertility, etc. We also carry out hysteroscopic surgeries including separation of intrauterine adhesions(IUA), resection of submucosal fibroids and adenomyomas, resection of uterine polyps, treatment of cesarean scar pregnancy, etc. These surgeries have advantages in good surgical efficacy, fast patient recovery, and short hospital stay.
The concept of rapid recovery is enhanced gradually. Daytime surgery has been carried out since 2019, and hysteroscopic surgery, cervical conization, and ovarian cyst surgery are involved. The preoperative preparation process is optimized, daytime patients are strictly evaluated, and postoperative follow-up is implemented carefully, which do good to patients’ medical experience and faster recovery.
② Transvaginal surgery
The natural orifice of the vagina is used for vaginal hysterectomy, subtotal hysterectomy, ovarian cystectomy, pelvic restoration, etc. Compared with transabdominal hysterectomy, it has the advantages of no incision in the abdomen, mild postoperative pain, faster recovery, and fewer side effects.
③ High intensity focused ultrasound treatment center
High intensity focused ultrasound therapy, namely Hifu knife® Treatment. The Hifu Knife, "original in China and leading in world" , was introduced in our hospital in 2012, has been widely used in the treatment of leiomyomas, adenomyosis, placental implantation, cesarean scar pregnancy(CSP), abdominal endometriotic nodules and other diseases. We’re at the international leading level and has been awarded the "International Micro non-invasive Medical Technology Training Center", "High intensity Focused Ultrasound Technology Research Cooperation Base", and "Global Ultrasound Non-invasive Treatment of Benign and Malignant Tumor Technology Industrialization Clinical Demonstration Base". The characteristic of Hifu knife is no surgery or bleeding, no anesthesia required. The uterus could be preserved, the female endocrine function would not be affected, and chances of conception could be increased. Fast recovery after treatment, accurate treatment positioning, high real-time safety and effectiveness are also critical advantages of Hifu. Focused ultrasound ablation of malignant tumors such as liver cancer and pancreatic cancer has been carried out.
3) Gynecological Clinic of vulva, vagina and cervix
The diagnosis and treatment technology of colposcopy is in a leading position in Northeast Sichuan. High-definition colposcopy and precise biopsy technology have a high detection rate for precancerous lesions, greatly reducing missed diagnosis. We take the lead in using minimally invasive treatment by gynecological laser for precancerous lesions of the vagina in the northeastern Sichuan, filling the gap in the region. We use gynecological focused ultrasound to treat cervical precancerous lesions caused by HPV infection for patients with fertility requirements, protecting the reproductive function of young patients, and we are in the leading position. Focused ultrasound treatment for chronic vulvar itching and depigmentation diseases (vulvar leukoplakia and white lesions) in gynecology is extremely effective.
4) Pelvic floor rehabilitation treatment
Pelvic floor physical rehabilitation therapy is a non-invasive, painless, and enjoyable treatment. Relying on high-tech electrical stimulation, magnetic stimulation, biofeedback technology, exercise therapy and manual therapy, accurate and objective examination and evaluation of pelvic floor muscle strength and personalized treatment plans can help normalize the function of pelvic floor, and prevent and treat pelvic floor dysfunction diseases such as urinary incontinence, constipation, pelvic organ prolapse, chronic pelvic pain, thin endometrium, etc.
4、 Teaching and research
（1） Scientific research
We undertake multiple projects including municipal, provincial, and horizontal ones. Among them, there is one provincial and ministerial level project. Participated in writing four academic monographs. Obtained 2 national patents. We have won one second prize of Sichuan Medical Science Award and one third prize of Nanchong Science and Technology Innovation Award.
（2） Teaching
The department undertakes theoretical and clinical teaching tasks for graduate, undergraduate, and international students at North Sichuan Medical College, and has trained a large number of outstanding medical professionals.
（3） Thesis
On average, more than 30 papers are published each year, including high-quality papers indexed by SCI.
（4） Academic exchange
Various academic conferences are held multiple times a year, including national continuing education, hysteroscopy training courses, and HIFU training courses.
